When I shaped The Highway, I wanted to capture the feeling of being watched by forces far larger than ourselves as we move along life’s endless roads. The towering structure of faces and eyes represents the architecture of consciousness—part city, part machine, part living being—that looms over our every journey. The eyes burn with vigilance, symbols of awareness, memory, and judgment, as if the road itself is alive and keeping score.

The solitary car driving into this surreal landscape speaks to both freedom and insignificance. On one hand, it is the human spirit pressing forward, unafraid of the unknown. On the other, it reminds us of how small we are beneath the weight of systems, histories, and unseen powers that observe and shape our path.

In this work, I wanted to blur the boundary between the real and the imagined, between progress and surveillance, between liberation and control. The open road becomes not just a passage through space, but a confrontation with the monumental forces—external and internal—that define our journey.
